How did you know you were done (having children)?

Is it truly just a knowing feeling? a plan you made ahead of time? I am wondering if this "feeling" will ever hit me?

  • Well, it's when you realise you can't handle any more kids financially and you also don't have the energy for another one.

  • I wonder that too. I love my son, I loved being pregnant, but I really don't know if I want to do it all over again. At this point, I think I'm done, but only time will tell, I guess.

  • I have 2 and they are driving me crazy as it is I don't think could mentally handle a 3rd one. I do everything on my own since hubby is always away for work. Plus I've always wanted just 2. I watched my parents struggle with 4 and I don't want to struggle.

  • When I had my second girl. I did not want to try for a boy the third time and get another girl. So I stopped at two.

  • With both my girls at the toddler stage, I felt like I was done - I felt like I would mentally explode. But then something shifted slightly and I started really wanting another. So I don't know. I was convinced I had hit that stage, but I guess I'm still waiting too!

  • We just kind of knew it. Our family felt complete.

  • I didn't have that feeling until after I had my second. I knew without a doubt that I couldn't handle another child.

After my first, who was the best baby on earth, I felt like I could have 10 kids. She was just that awesome. I wanted to have my second almost immediately, but waited to get pregnant until she was 18 months old. The kids are 2 years 3 months apart. My son was a terrible, colicky baby. I knew that I was done with him. We joked that he was our sign from God that we had no business having more than 2 children. The kids are 5 & 7 now and we still feel the same.....done!
