How can I stop my son from pulling his ear?

My son is teething and pulling at his ear pretty badly. I hear that's a side effect. He's been pulling it so hard that it started to bleed today. I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas?

  • are you sure he doesn't have an ear infection or plugged ears from the teething? call the doc!

  • I haven't ever heard of that being a side effect. I would take him to the doctor to get checked for an ear infection. Teething can give them colds, which if they get really stuffy they can get an ear infection if it doesn't drain out.

  • I agree with teething usually comes ear infection. Take him to the doctor and get some medicine he will stop once the fluid drains

  • I would also call the doc b/c it sounds like an ear infection. But my daughter also to this day stratches her ears so bad they bleed when she's tired, ever notice if maybe he's just maybe sleepy? I would take him to the doc no matter what though!

  • Yup, I'd get him to see your doctor! If he's pulling on it, and it's bleeding, it might be an ear infection.
