Anyone know how to explicate a poem?!?!?

I have to explicate Emily Dickinson's 'The Moon is distant from the Sea'. I have been trying to do it for the last three weeks and it's just not happening. Any advice? It's due Tuesday.. ugh.

  • Do you mean to "explain"? To explicate it .... just sounds "painful"!! Best of luck with your work!

  • No, she meant explicate - "to describe the way it makes you feel". The web site I posted explains it well.

  • Well, at least it is Dickinson and not Homer's Odyssey ...

  • I try not to explicate in public. ;-) (sorry, I couldn't resist)
