  • Cut their saleries, get rid of pork barrel entitlements for states, spend less money on prisons (why should they have cable and nice exercise rooms?) and there are hundreds of programs buried in bills that money is being spent on for stupid useless things because of political favoritism by both parties.

  • Starters~ Congress pay/spending accounts they should cut their staff. As should Michelle and BO should cut some Czars and delegate more efficiently to appointed administration members. Then, programs (much like the ones funded in the Stimulus) should be cut. National Endowment for the Arts, etc? We don't need to be funding these type of programs to the extent we are during such economic times. This is a moment for the Oprah's and Bill gates of our nation to step up and contribute more when the government simply, just cannot. Departments like the Department of Education need to be cut and forced into working smarter... It's about the quality of work provided, not the quantity of the employees needed to waste money. Re evaluate a possible flat tax or fair tax, this would drastically cut the size of the IRS. Increase retirement age to lessen the burden on SS. Medicare/Medicaid should become block grants for states.

  • Start with the Congressional lunch program... At their salaries they can afford their own lunch. If they want to keep it catered, they can split the cost and have it deducted from their paycheck.

yes, the prison has more amenities than I do. Cut those out.

  • I would support cutting congress' pay first and then go forward from there.

  • Freeze of all government hiring; freeze all salaries; and immediately cancel all cost of living raises and step-up raises. Freeze should stay in effect until the average salary of government employees is equal to the private sector. (Currently substantially HIGHER).
Remove unions from government employee structure.. Collective bargaining has a strangle hold on our government.
Develop plan to shrink foreign aid. 5-10% per year for 10 years.
These are just a few ideas.. ;o)

  • There is waste in all departments that could be cut. Pay freezes and cutting back aid we send to other countries sound great too.

  • Start in Washington. Cut congress fluff. There is billions of dollars wasted on perks for congress. I don't believe they should be getting huge retirements either.
I'm sure there are trillions of dollars they could easily dump. From stupid grants to excessive international aid.
