Is it wrong to love your adult child, but not like her?

She does nothing to help me out, she is 20 & still has an attitude & is VERY selfish

  • no, it is not wrong - i have a 40-year-old son who i LOVE but do not like - he is very rude to me since his marriage (14 years ago), thinks he knows it all, pulls faces at me when i talk, - has a great relationship with his dad - they golf together and have sports in common - call each other back and forth when a game is on tv and go to games together - when we take him and his family out to dinner, his wife doesn't even speak to me - he mainly puts me down - but i concentrate on my 2 beautiful grands (8 and 5) - they are my heart - and they so love me - that i can take anything the parents dish out to me - because i have them!!! oh, his wife doesn't speak to my husband either - but it doesn't bother him the way it does me ...

  • I have a 24 year old sister. We all love her, but none of us like parents included. You can't make yourself like someone, so don't feel bad for having honest emotions.

  • We don't HAVE to like our relatives jus because they are related to us, inclduing our children.

  • Not at all. We ALL have times where we will NOT like our children while we still love them.

  • We don't always like our children. We love them but sometimes we just end up having nothing in common with them. Don't beat yourself up over it. Things may change as she grows up a bit.

  • She is super lazy & only wants her way or no way! If a family member tells her how to live her life then she gets mad & says she never wants to see them again! You can't say a word to her! She mentally drains me

  • I hope that happens soon. She is so rude that I can't stand it! We just moved to a new state so I am trying to give her time
