Antihistamines and breastfeeding

I suffer from allergies and have not taken antihistamines because I know it affects your milk supply. However, now that I am weaning can I take benedryl and it help lower my supply or are the effects only temporary?

  • I stopped taking a class C drug when I found out I was pregnant, but went back on it after I had my babies.... - I'd call your doctor And your babies Pediatrician with the same question to be on the Safe side.

  • If you are weaning your milk will slow on its own. But if you are weaning to a bottle make sure you only shorten feeds and not drop them. If you shorten feeds then your body will decrease milk on its own.
