What is the earliest a person should start baking for the holidays?

I only have three people in my family and I only bake for them. Which I start baking at a week before Christmas. Just cookies and a cake.

  • Unless you are planning on baking and then freezing I wouldn't do it more than a week before hand. We have holiday parties from black Friday until New Years so I'm baking already, but I bake and freeze so that I don't have as much to during the super hectic time and I can use my oven now that it's nice and cool out.

  • I start baking in early November, but that's because I enjoy baking in the colder months and because I have neighbors and friends and family who enjoy benefiting from it....LOL! Doing it specifically before Christmas though... I would say no more then a week before unless you plan on freezing.
