Video Games

Do you let your children play video games? For how long? And how old are your kids?

Mine get to play them for a while on the weekends when it's too cold or wet to go outside, and they get to play them for about half an hour after school during the week. They are 7 and 9.

  • My son is 14 and he has no limit. He plays off and on.. He doesn't play non stop and zone out. So, I feel he needs no set amount.

  • When mine were younger they got an hour a day on weekdays, and 2 hours on the weekend. They were able to earn more time to save for rainy days, or when friends were over, or whenever they wanted to do them by bringing home good grades, reading on their own, or doing extra chores.

I bought carnival tickets in a big roll at Wal-Mart. Each Ticket was worth 30 minutes. That way I didn't have to keep track of how much time they had.

  • My daughter is 5 and she's allowed to play them as much as she wants, just because she usually prefers the outside or more creative games. So even though she's allowed to play video games as much as she wants, she's never played for more than 1 hour a day.

  • My kids will be allowed to if they're interested. Maybe for an hour or two a day depending.
