What is your criteria for keeping your child/ren home from school or daycare and what is the criteria to send them back?

I am ultra conservative when it comes to this but I wonder what everyone else does...please share. :o)

  • If they have fever or enough pain to cry (and I know a fake when I see one ;) )... they stay home. If they wake up and feel pretty good... no fever or anything, they go back.

  • I follow school rules - no vomiting, diarrhea, fever, within 24 hours. No horrible cough/nasty green snot (but then again I take my kids to the doctor if this is the case). If a doc prescribes antibiotics, they ahve to be on for 24 hrs before going back. Not sure what the rest are...but it's all common sense really. I did keep DS out a day last week because he was coughing & snotty, but not green & not terribly bad - but HE didn't want to get his friends sick (what a sweet kid). He's better now without doc help/meds.
