What do you do outside to prepare for the winter months?

I live in Michigan and I will be spending time this month preparing outside for winter.
1. Clean out my gardens and prepare the soil for spring planting.
2. Prepare plants for the winter months and successful blooming next year.
3. Put away many items that I have out for the warmer months.

  • Already did all of it... As soon as it's time to cover the pool everything else gets taken care of. We don't rake the leaves though, our boys have too much fun playing in them, and then I mulch them with the mower after they are finished with them...

  • I really don't do much. I plant a few fall/winter crops in my garden and remove my spring annual flowers to put in winter annuals. When we get a freeze, I put my potted plants in the garage, cover my garden with a sheet, and cover the outside faucets.

  • Sometimes we bring the upholstered patio funiture inside "just in case" it rains but we usually have mild weather year round so we don't have to do much.

  • Same clean up & prep, empty the water barrels & put them in winter storage, bring in the outside furniture, cover tender plants for overwintering, etc.
