How long are you suppose to keep your check stubs for?

Just wondering. I still have them from 2000!

  • Keep the last one of the year. Put it with your taxes from that year. Those you are supposed to keep for at least 7 years.

  • I don't keep mine. All employers keep employee files for 10 years, mandatory for tax purposes. If anything is lost you can contact your employer for a copy. if they use a payroll service same thing. You get a W2 at the end of the year stating your income. But I guess if you do not trust your employer is doing things correctly, then keep them, however, most laws are in favor of employers, so if you notice a mistake, you need to report it right away -
