Calling all teachers!

I had a sub in for me yesterday, and my ninth-grade students were ridiculously misbehaved. I teach in an inner-city school. What would be a good punishment for these students?

  • I like the essay idea. But I would include an apology letter to the sub as well.

  • I agree with the essay and the apology. Make them both an assignment. :)

  • First, I would find out how the sub treated them. Some subs get really rude and disrespectful to the kids. But, I agree with them each writing a letter of apology. Proper format, spelling, grammar, etc. Even the ones who behaved.

  • Oh I can not wait to hear what you do. My daughters class made the sub cry once.

  • I appreciate the responses, but none of it works. I can't use what I am teaching them (i.e., writing essays) as a punishment. What I teach them shouldn't be a punishment.
