Big Brother

I wondered if people are aware of big brother extending now to your neighbors? Are you a watcher or a free person?

  • They can watch me all they want. I'm not doing anything illegal.

  • lol, but so are many of us not doing anything illegal. Yet, if you are doing something they do not like, illegal or not, they want to report you. "Oh, she did not turn her lights off at 10 at night! I am reporting her!" And yes, stupid things are going on now that people feel they need to "police" their neighbor.

  • I have had asshat neighbors like that for years, so what's your point? My SIL lives in a gated community for excatly that reason, she doesn't want any of "those" kinds of people living near her.

  • isn't a gated community where there are more likely to have nosy neighbors? How does it feel to have someone else try to dictact what you will and will not do in your home? Just because you are not doing anything illegal does not mean you are not doing something "they" do not approve of. Sad, people can not just respect another person's right to live (when it is not harming another)

  • If it affects me or my family direct, yes, I will report something (i.e., loud music, extreme fighting, trashing my property, etc.). Otherwise, I could care less what my neighbors do.

  • I agree teenmom, but the fighting part. If it is not on my property, then it does not bother me (unless I see a woman or kid getting hit). But these are legitimate excuses. I am refering to little things. Are we to bow down to someone else because they do not like that I am planting wildflowers in my yard instead of the geraniums they prefer? Oh, such a silly example, but it is these little things that are starting to be a bother. I don't live in a gated community. I will not allow another person (especially a woman) in my home to dictate to me what I will and will not do (such as change the colors of my curtains or do my supper at oh 7 p.m. instead of 6 like I choose to do). Why should someone else spy on me to "ensure" I am living the way he or she wants me to live? It is a control issue.

  • You'd have to be pretty bored to watch me. Unless you find changing diapers and doing laundry entertaining.
