  • appleMy favorite baked dessert is apple crisp. But a quick and easy way to serve them is to make apple nachos. Core and slice the apples and spread over a plate. Top with melted , chocolate (nutella is awesome!) and top with sprinkles or chopped nuts. To make it really pretty use different kinds of chocolate - milk, white, dark.

  • Yea, I've done all those...I was more looking for a "knock your socks off" type recipe!

  • I usually just make an apple pie for the husband and kids.

  • How about plain old fried apples? Just add lots of butter and some cinnamon and cook them down!

  • I love to make applesauce and freeze it. I make some apple pumpkin muffins last week that were a huge hit. Other apple muffins. Apple bread. Apple pancakes. Crisp. Pie. Cake. I'd have no problem using up 5doz apples - I'd have them knocked out in a week or less and not make the same thing twice.

  • I made an apple maple bread pudding last night that everyone loved.

    * 2 1/2 c. whole wheat or white bread cubes
    * 1//2 c. diced apple (supposed to be peeled, but I'm lazy)
    * 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine, cut into bits
    * 3 eggs
    * 2 Tbsp. maple or maple-flavored pancake syrup
    * 1 1/2 c. apple cider or juice
    * 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

    In mixing bowl, toss together bread cubes, apples, and butter. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs and syrup; whisk in cider, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour over bread mixture. Let stand for 1 hour in refrigerator. Pour into a 6 cup baking dish (1 1/2 quart). Bake in 325° oven until pudding is firm, 45 to 60 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream!

    note: I doubled the recipe and was still able to bake it in a 1 1/2 quart dish.
