Clots after delivery

What causes big blood clots after delivery? It gets scary for me because it seems like after I deliver the clots just get bigger and bigger. I don't understand why some people clot like that and others do not.

  • The clots are your uterine lining shedding. A doctor can tell what is a normal size and what is not.

  • Yes, They told me that they were okay in the beginning and then whey they got golf ball sized I had to go back in. It's just a scary process....I think the fact that I had just had a placental abruption made it that much scarier for me.

  • They have always told me if they were bigger than an orange to go back in. I dont clot much so I have never had a problem, but I also have c-sections so the bleeding is a little less.
