ya think red onions are ok for this recipe? (don't wanna go out & get yellow) :)

This is a side for chicken & stuffing for tonight.

Anyway, I can only assume it means yellow onions, do you think red onions would be ok? :\ I live in kind of a rural area & I've left the house every day for the last week and I'd just like one day where I don't have to leave because it's such a pain in the butt.

  • I'd go ahead and use the red onions. I substitute stuff all the time and with onions I don't think it'd make that much of a difference.

  • I think red will be ok - IMO, they are about the same strength as yellow.

  • I'm just worried about the "sweet" factor when they're cooked... I'm not sure they'd go well with sweet cooked carrots. I usually am not an onion person, but DH is, and we have these red onions and I've never had them cooked.
