  • I buy several small pumpkins and gourds for the kids to paint (or they use Sharpie markers) at the beginning of October as decorations. Then a day or two before Halloween we buy 2 large pumpkins (one for each kid) to carve.

  • Paint... I have never figured out how to carve them without them looking like hell and making a huge mess!

  • I love to paint my pumkins!! carving looks beautiful but I think its to difficult right now, maybe when LB is older. Paitning can lead to so many fun designs, then you can carve later if you want and roast the yummy seeds.

  • carve into jack-o-lanterns. first we draw our patterns with ballpoint pens. then we hack into or slice into them by getting the top off first, hollowing it, then carving a face. then we set them with candles on the front step in the dark and go outside and look at them and take pictures of them@!!

  • I didn't realize there were so many painters out there, lol. I definitely carve, I toast the seeds the same night and everyone gets some in their lunch the next day.
