Do you think it's okay to drive to your mail box while your kids are asleep?

I live on a long dirt road with 4 houses. I wanna drive down to the mailbox now instead of waiting til the morning and loading the kids in the car just to go there. Dh is at work and he says it's scary. Is he being paranoid or am I being careless?

  • I wouldnt do it.. Alot can happen in the time you leave and get back no matter how far of a drive it is.. How old are your kids?

  • My worry would be.........what if.........the house caught on fire.

It IS scary......mainly cause its not safe to leave the kids like that.

Why can't it wait til morning when they are all up and rearing to go?

I heard a story once where a Mom thought it would be OK to visit her neighbor across a hall in an apartment complex when her kid(s) were napping....there was a fire on the other side of her the people behind her.....she almost did not get her kids out. If they had NOT heard the commotion from other people...they might not have. Her place caught fire too, from the adjoining kitchen. So much for firewalls...........

But then thats all up to you...its not like the mail is going anywhere though.

  • I would just wait and take the kids ,anything can happen and I would rather make sure my kids are safe than care about the convenience of getting mail
