  • Age 13 or 14 is fine if they can be trusted

  • Our sons 14 and I would let him hang out with friends at the Mall, but I would have to be there somewhere so I could check in with him... Maybe 16? Then he's old enough to drive alone, he's old enough to go other places alone...

  • I would allow my ss13 and sd12 to do it if they had friends and cell phones with them and only DURING THE DAY

  • 13 or 14 if you think they can be trusted.

  • I think it depends on how responsible the child has shown them selves to be. If they have shown that they make good choices, can handle responsibility, and have shown respect for people and property 12-13, If they are the type of teen that you always have to keep at to get them to do anything, are frequently disrespectful to things and poeple, and have shown a tendency to "show off" around friends... 14-15.

My 12 year old neice is allowed to go with her friends but her 14 year old cousin is not do to frequent bad choices when being alone with friends.

  • You are the best judge of this, since you know your child the best. That would depend on the maturity level of your child & the friends they'd be hanging out with at the Mall. Set a time limit (like 2 hours) and only during the day. Then take it from there.

  • Personally..... 15-16. Unless they're going with an older sibling or relative? If not.... just make sure you can call and check up on them, just in case.
