4 Bumps

Is it safe for kids to pump gas?

Do you think it's safe for children to pump gas?

A co-worker recently saw a child, about 10y, pumping gas at the gas station and was horrified that the attendant wasn't concerned, even after she showed the attendant that a sticker on the pump says you have to be a licensed driver to pump gas.

  • As far a safety, ya, but as far as being a licensed driver, no.
The only way someone would know if an adult is licensed is if they physically check and I've never seen them do that.

  • It isn't safe. That is why there is an age limit for it. 16.

  • Hahahaha...no wonder.

On side note, I don't let my son pump and he is 14. I always saw the sticker and complied to the 16 rule. LOL Not that I think it is so unsafe, but, just no reason for him to pump.
