Location and school system were our top priorities. I researched local schools for months before narrowing down places we were willing to buy. Some of the schools here are great, and some are terrible.
Second consideration was that it fit our needs. At least 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and a family room that would be for the kids' playroom. We needed an office space and enough room for all of my husband's tools and supplies. A place to put in utility parking to tuck his truck and trailer away. A yard. NO pool. High ceilings, good sized rooms. Storage space.
The thing that was dead last on our list was the home's condition. We love projects, so we didn't mind buying something and then ripping it apart to replace all the tile, appliances, carpet, glass, mirrors, landscaping, repainting, etc.
We bought this house in 2008 and I'm already wondering if we should have bought a little bigger, though.
