Female German Shepherd

Later today we are adopting an 8 wk old German Shepherd puppy. We haven't met her yet, so deciding on a name will depend a bit on what she looks like and her personality. So far she is the leader of her litter, and a smart cookie. She will be joining our home with our almost 2 year old Golden Retriever, Bruschi. My husband really wants a German name, but there aren't a lot of decent dog options. I wanted to expand our options by asking for suggestions here!

I have been leaning towards Kiya, Marla, Maya, Meika, or Melia....

In addition to Melia, I keep getting drawn into other Hawaiian names which my husband thinks is ridiculous.

  • I'm partial to Maya.
I found a beautiful 4 month old female German Shep puppy. I had her almost a week while trying to rehome her. Finally on the last day, after getting to know her, I named her Maya. She's in a great home now but they renamed her Nina.

  • Kiya was an Egyptian queen. She was Akehenaten's second wife. She was supposedly really pretty. And there is speculation that she was the mother of King Tutankhamun.

Laika was the first dog that the Russians launched into space. She, unfortunately died in space but the name is still pretty. There is also a dog breed called the Russian European Laika.
