Do you have children with ADHD on meds?

My 6 y.o ds has been diagnosed with Bipolar and Mood Disorder since he was three. Recent neuropsych eval concluded his diagnoses to be ADHD, Cognitive Disorder with Executive Functions weakness. He has a med apt. next week. Currently he has severe behavior issues, aggression, hyperness, and rages to name a few. Currently he is on Risperdal, Clonidine, and Celexa. At 3 y.o suspected to maybe have ADHD they tried him on Ritalin which made him rage awefully flailing his body uncontrollably for about four hours. I am wondering if anybody has children with these mixed diagnoses whom took ADHD meds? Did they work well? What side effects did your children have?

  • My older 2 children both have ADHD & my son also has ODD(oppositional defiant disorder). They're both on medication. My son was diagnosed @ 6. He started on Adderall, then they added wellbutrin (4 depression), then straterra (which made him like a zombie) & now he's back on 2 diff. forms of adderall. My daughter was the same age when she was diagnosed. She started on addeerall which MADE HER like a zombie, then to concerta which she's been on 4 2 yrs and seems to work really well 4 her. Now my son, I think his r hoing 2 have 2 b readjusted or changed again, bc it's not as effective as b4. But I'm also thinking he has bipolar &/or anxiety as well bc my l8 fahter had it & I do as well.

  • I have 2 ADHD kids, I don't believe in medicating them. I don't know if ADHD runs in families, but just about everyone in my family has been diagnosised with it, and the older generations delt with it, so I figure that I can too.
