Do you think it's trendy when celebs name their kids weird stuff?

Do you think it's cool to name your kids Inspektor Pilot, Moxie Crimefighter, or even Apple? Or are these people giving their kids extra baggage for the future?

  • I think there's a difference between unique names and names that are just plain stupid IMO. Inspector to me is stupid, no offense.

  • They might as well tattoo "Please beat me up" on their kids

  • I can appreciate a unique name. However, I think some celebs can go waaaay off into left field with a baby name.

Lisa Bonet---one of the Cosby show sisters, named her son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha. There is a mouthful for ya!

  • I see nothing wrong with the name Apple- it brings to mind something sweet, good smelling and is cute and pleasant sounding IMO.

I think celebrity boy names are much stranger than the girl names- Guggi Q. Hewson? Zowie? Sage Moonblood?

  • MJ's kid has an actual name..Blanket is his nickname. BUT..his name is Prince Michael the second (I believe..with the older boy being the first) Not too much better actually! lol

But, yeah, giving a child a really weird out-there name does NOT make them anymore "special". All children are unique & special in their own way regardless of their name. Some of these names are just awful. I think celebrities do this to draw attention to themselves. A big "Hey look what I named MY kid! Isn't it unique?! Aren't I just so creative?!?" (like me! like me! like me!). I'm sure its a big ego boost for them to see their child's name being discussed all over the place.

  • I like Moxie...that is a super cute name! I like apple too. If you don't think fo the fruit, it's a cute name & i betcha it will grow on her. She'll probably be a great lil apple...lol! FYI, blanket was MJ's son's nick name...nit his birth name. I call my daughter Moose...or Moosie. Weird..but it just stuck.

I think a lot of celebs have a thwarted view of reality. I don't think they are "trying" to be anything. I think they just have peculiar taste because of their messed up take on reality.

I don't think they are setting up thier kids for failure at all. That is a bit harsh. What's in a name anyway? My DD has a very different name. Her name is Tulsi. But, i get LOTS of compliments on it.

  • i do like the reason why gwyneth paltrow says she named her daughter apple. she said her dad always told her that she was the "apple" in his eye...i thought that was sweet.
