What do you think of National Geographic movies?

I have a 4 year old and I love letting him watch movies and shows that can teach him something. I haven't actually seen any National Geographic movies. I wanted to get perspective from other Christian parents.
Are there other shows/movies he can watch that will teach him stuff? I'm not talking about letters/shapes/numbers and stuff like that. I'm talking about cultures, people, animals, environments, mechanics, history...stuff like that.

  • I love them... You can get them rather cheap on Amazon, and there are so many you can really pick and choose which ones are right for you & your kid... I love the Ancient Civilization ones and stuff like that...

  • Oh we used those when we home schooled our sons. I would check them out at the library once a week. Just for fun we watched Jack Hanna tapes too, they are so much fun to watch.

  • I love them. My kids weren't interested in TV when they were four though, accept my son who loved anything about dinosaurs. They've watched plenty of TV to make up for it now, but before they were 5 or 6 they wouldn't sit long enough to watch anything.

  • Discovery or History channels are great, too, they have shows about mysteries of the bible, how the earth came to being from scientific point of view, so basically you can find biblical subjects and scientific, too.
I love animal planet but I only watch something like Dogs or Cats 101 and Animal Cops of different cities and I don't recommend them for a small child, they are very graphic examples of mostly human neglect and cruelty to animals, I cry every time.
