My son is a month old, and still won't sleep through the night! Is this normal? Any suggestions on how to get him to sleep at night? I try waking him frequently through the day, but he falls right back to sleep again!

  • He won't do that until his body and brain are right to to let him. He still needs to wake and eat. His little stomach is the size of his fist. It can barely hold much and that goes quick. And EVERY baby still wakes up at one month. Some don't sleep all night until 2.

  • People are lucky if there kids sleep throught the night by 6 months! Nothing is wrong its normal so young. You can try to start on a routine at night to let him know its time for bed. Like bath time read a book feed then bed :) good luck!

  • Most babies will not sleep more than a couple hours at night due to their stomachs being smaller than their own fist. Most will not sucessfully sleep thru the night until about a year and even then, they go thru times when they have trouble sleeping.

  • he probably won't sleep through the night for a long time, so you'd better get used to it.

  • Almost no child sleeps all night at 4 weeks. Keep trying what you are doing and it will get better, but some children do not sleep all night until they are older. My second child was 2 before she slept all night.

  • Very normal. You are going to have to grab sleep on his schedule. Eventually he will get on yours. Love and hugs.

  • You have a very normal baby. It is hard having your time schedule a little off right now, but in time, he will settle into a pattern.

  • This is normal and every baby is different and will sleep through the night when they are ready to. My first child started sleeping through the night at 2 months and my second didn't sleep through the night til about a year. My friend's son still doesn't sleep through the night and he will be 3 in a few months. Good luck, Mama. Hang in there. It will get easier.

  • Yes this is very normal, the best things you can do are start a routine with him before bed....It is never to early to start a good bedtime routine...try to start around the same time every night and do his bath, change his clothes, maybe a story, and his feeding....when he wakes at night keep the lights as dim as possible and try not to turn on a tv or make lots of noise, this can help keep him calm and help him fall back to sleep faster. Babies this age usually can not sleep more than a few hours at a time because they need to eat but if you keep up a good routine things should be easier for you and him and eventually you will both be on a good schedule and both get sleep.
