What is the best sewing machine for a newbie?

I have some experience, but I haven't used a machine since high school. (Over 10 years ago) I want a good, sturdy, durable machine, but don't want to spend a fortune since I might suck at sewing and don't want to be out to much cash if I do. Thanks!

  • go to a shop and have them show you the diff machines and ask they what they best would be. You can see them in action and what you would be most comfortable in. You can go to a few shops and see a few times. I think seeing a machine is the best way to see how works. We have some small shops in our town that treat us great. You can ask all your questions and make the best decision for you!

  • I'm sending you a copy of the hand out that I give to my sewing students when they ask about buying a new machine.
