Did your child's eyes change color?

Did your child's eyes change color after they were born? I read that children born with blue eyes change color after about six months. Did yours change? My daughter kept her blue eyes; they seem to be one of the few things in her face where you can tell I'm definitely her mother.

  • My oldest still has light blue eyes. My second child had blue eyes that are now grayish green. They turned after he was 2. I am hoping my baby girl keeps her blue eyes. She is 20 months old now.

  • Yes. He was born with gorgeous blue eyes, but they're hazel now - which are pretty, too, lol, I just loved his blues. :)

  • Yes, all three were born with Bright Blue eyes! two of them kept the blue eyes but are now a smoky blue and my oldest are now olive green. Not sure where the blue comes from since me and DH both have green eyes!!!!

  • I have 4 kids, all were born with blue eyes and only one still has them. My oldest daughter's change from blue to some other color, lol. They don't stay blue and my youngest daughter has really blue eyes, my boys eyes changed to green.

  • Mine both had blue eyes as a baby, then over the course of the next couple of years changed to blue hazel. Their eye color depends on what color they are wearing but my DD's tend to be more green and DS's tend to be more gray. My DGD's went from blue to hazel and now, at almost 4, are brown.

  • I found about why babies are born with blue eyes.

You inherit your eye color from your parents, but no matter what the color is now, it may have been blue when you were born. Why? Melanin, the brown pigment molecule that colors your skin, hair, and eyes, hadn't been fully deposited in the irises of your eyes or darkened by exposure to ultraviolet light. The iris is the colored part of the eye that controls the amount of light that is allowed to enter. Some other animals are born with blue eyes, too, such as kittens. - If neither parent has blue eyes. - Which parent determines eye color.
