My daughter has patchy white skin on her arm and some on her face what is it?

Is this a serious skin problem? It just started over the summer what could it be?

  • most likely dry skin, kid's skin dries out faster than ours. try putting some good lotion on it. if one of the first ingredients in the lotion is alcohol then don't use that one. baby lotion would be good because it is very moisturizing and gentle. if doesn't go away after a week or gets worse then take her to the doc.

  • It depends on the colour of the rest of her skin.

Is she negroid? If she is, the patchy whiteness is probably a disease.

Is she caucasian? If she is, the patchy whiteness may be eczema, a virus, roundworm (which is a fungus, not a parasite), or early indication of psoriasis...

It may be dry skin... but without knowing what colour her skin is to start with, it is hard to say.

  • Sounds like eczema. Try aquaphor. If it doesn't clear up see your doctor.
