  • No, I did all those things and my parents are/were great and I was a good kid.

  • No, because it is a choice made by the kid/person not by their parents or anyone else.
Plus, there is a lot of peer pressure.

  • My parents were pretty straight laced, church going people, I made poor choices, they tried to stop me, tell me and everything else. I still did what I wanted.

  • no, I speak from first hand experience, I had a great Mom and I did everything I thought I could get away with, and somethings I knew I couldn't but did them anyway.

  • No matter how good of parents kids have it also has to factor in on their other the friends they make when they first go to school!! Say a kid goes to school and becomes friends with another kid whose parents really dont care what that kid does. AND.....some kids do it just because it will make them popular and think its cool!!!

  • I only know what I've seen. Every parent I've ever seen, this includes relatives and friend's parents, that chose the "kids are going to do what they do and if enforce rules they will rebel" idea are the ones who are grandparents when their children are teenagers or their kids were doping and boozing and getting in legal trouble.

  • Oh no, not even. I think that some really good parents have been blind sided by a kid that acted one way at home and another way from home with friends. They are shocked when things go wrong because they truly feel they had no clue that anything was wrong.
