Do you think it's okay to shorten Christmas to Xmas?

There was a post in one of my groups that said "Xmas" and I find it to be disrespectful and sacreligious but I got jumped all over because of it. What do you think?

  • Seeing most people don't see Christmas as a religious thing, it really doesn't matter if it's XMAS or not. I don't find it unreligious or whatever, it's just a word.

  • Actually the "X" stands for Christ.

  • I don't think it's ok because you are taking CHRIST out and me being a CHRISTIAN.....I just can't do that.

  • Yeah, why not?

  • It bothers me when people do that. I believe in God and in Jesus Christ so it feels like they are putting an X over Christ to me.

  • Is it ok? Sure, I suppose ... I think it's ridiculously lazy but everyone has the right to appear lazy if they so choose.
