Is this really true?

A friend told me that they are no longer teaching cursive writing at schools anymore. My kids are not in school yet so I was curious if this is true or not. Maybe it is just some schools.

  • It's probably just in some schools. I would assume that most would still teach it.

  • Yes, my DD is right now; it's a big part of third grade curriculum.

  • My child learned last year when he was 8. I hope they are not taking that out of the lesson plan. Kids really enjoy learning it!

  • They teach it here, but not as much emphasis as when I was little.

  • They don't teach it anymore where I live. They learn keyboarding now. I am still teaching my kids to write in cursive though because I don't think it's right.

  • I homeschool. My son is in second grade, chronologically, and prints neatly - I insist on it, no "pass" for being a boy. we will be doing cursive soon, and he has typing practice softwear, as well, and I'll be teaching him how to use word and excel later as well.
