This lil pup had surgery and she is supposed to have limited exercise. When she does manage to escape out the front door when someone goes or comes she won't come back. She will literally make you chase her and tackle her little butt. Its so aggravating... Any suggestions on stopping this behavior?

Thanks in Advance

  • I heard that you should never chase after your puppy, but instead catch her attention then run away from her. Look and see if she is following you. Make it a game for her. After you have her playing then act like you are in race with her and see if you can get her to run back to the house before you get there. After she comes into the house, then give her a treat. My shih tzu loves pieces of baby carrots for her special race treat.

  • My beagle was doing this after her surgery and we kept her in her create or gated in the same room we were in. If someone was going out the door they would tell us and we'd hold her back. If she does run a little, do not worry, she'll be fine. If she has a favorite treat try to entice her with it instead of chasing her. Hope that helps.
