Can you french braid your own hair?

I tried today and it looked okay, but rather loose. Do you have any tips for me to make it better?

  • Practice. I always did a better, tighter braid when my hair was damp.

  • Practice. If your have longer, thicker hair it is a lot easier than thin or short. And yes, wet hair.

  • Yep...did it every day when I was in the Army. Took a lot of practice and best to do it wet.

  • I tried but I have naturally curly hair and it is tough to braid at all. I will try doing it when damp and see if that works. What a good post OP

  • I can, but not well anymore. I used to be a pro at it with my own hair and others. It just takes a lot of practice to get the braids tighter. I don't really bother anymore, though, because it takes a while lol. I'm lazy.
