Similac Recall

Has anyone heard of babies dying as a result of consuming the recalled Similac? My sister-in-law's friend lost her baby at 2 months of age to a bacterial infection. It turns out, she had been using the recalled Similac. Could be a complete coincidence but it's still alarming as a soon to be mom.

  • Very sad about SIL's friend's baby. I never heard about deaths linked to the recall. Maybe that is something she should talk to her doctor about and the company that makes the milk.

  • Breast is best of course but not always an option for whatever reason. This shows there need to be more tests and protocols to help protect infants from such issues. We have enough to protect them from.

  • sorry about your SIL's friend, that's just horrible.

if i couldn't breastfeed i would probably start looking into goats milk. IF i remember right it's the closest thing to human breast milk. even better then store bought formula but i could be wrong.

but i have used formula before and hated it the whole time it caused nothing but problems for my kids.

i do think there could be a link between the two.

  • no one died the only thing ever reported was some upset stomachs. The recall was voluntary and most recalled probly didn't even have bugs in it.
