Do you make a traditional lasagna?

I usually make lasagna with meat. However, I 've seen it made on television with vegetables. or a vegetable lasagna. Do you make it your own by adding what favorites ingredients to it.

  • My best friend in High School was first generation Italian American. Her Mom taught me how to make lasagna. It is very traditional. She also taught me how to substitute. We made it once using cooked rice instead of noodles. During lent she did not use sausage so she used sliced portabells mushrooms and sliced zucchini. She also showed us Her DD and I) how to make a chicken lasagna using an alfredo sauce instead of tomato.

  • I make mine a couple of ways. I make either a meat sauce or a marinara sauce, and then I often put sauteed spinach, garlic and mushrooms into the ricotta cheese filling, but not always.

Other times I will use Eggplant instead of noodles and layer with sauce and ricotta cheese filling. Either sauce, and either ricotta cheese filling with veggies or without.

  • My kids say I make the best lasagana in the world, some of thier friends even ask me to make it. I use meat, mozzarela, cheddar, and montery jack cheese. Thats how they loveit. For my mom i use a alfredo sauce because she does not like tomato sauce but thats the only differance in over 20 years.

  • I use ravioli (frozen) for the pasta/meat part. Add spinach or other veggies.
Leave out the ricotta, as I'm not a fan.
