  • He placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

  • Ultimately their choices. You have to understand that the Garden of Eden was in a different realm. They were walking and talking with God. So it was a different state of being. Similar to the difference we will experience when all of us will be resurrected. Since they moved from one realm (called Terrestrial) to where we are now, Earth( called Telestial), they could not get back. Their choices had prevented them from being in that existence, or even being able to see it. And yes, Cherubim and flaming sword still sit there at the tree of life, to protect all, lest they live forever in their sins.

  • I would've thought the word of God would've done the trick.....

  • I don't believe it actually happened, that they were actual people. I believe their story is supposed to explain to us the human condition and serve to introduce us into the Divine context.

But if you're looking for what happened within the "story", I think I remember it having something to do with a fiery sword. :)
