Is there a way to fix and prevent outdoor plastic toys from cracking?

We all know that Little Tykes plastic outdoor play equipment is not cheap. But after awhile esp. in hot climates it shows wear & tear such as fading & cracking.

Is there a way to stop this from happening or to fix it on equipment that it has already happened to?

  • I don't know of a way to fix it, but to prevent it, try keeping it covered with plastic tarps when it's not being used. Or you could bring it inside the garage if you have one when you're not using it. The sun and rain and extreme temperatures will take it's toll on the pieces, so covering them or keeping them indoors as much as possible will cut down on the wear of the equipment.

  • Fixing it is not easy I am sure and not even sure if it is possible. The wear and tear comes from being in the sun and rain etc so keeping it covered in some way is the best way to avoid it. We personally prefer wood or metal that can be fixed easier and repainted when it starts to show wear.

  • It can't be fixed once it's happened, not that I know of anyway. To prevent it from happening, try to put it where it will not be in the sun all day.
