  • I put them on my plate and not on hers. "What's that, mama?" she asks, before her fork wanders over to snatch one.

  • I dice up squash, brocelli, zuchinni, onions, tomatoes, carrots and whatever else I have on hand and add them to spaghetti sauce, rice (with chicken or beef), or make them up in a casserole with cheese (ah! The wonders of cheese when you family loves it!)

  • With salads, I make a tossed salad for me and my husband, but for my 3-year-old, I keep the different veggies separate and give her a little pool of dressing for dipping. Sweet things like peas, winter squashes, sweet potatoes and yams have always been popular. With broccoli and cauliflower, I just call them trees and let her be a brachiosaurus.

  • I get rid of the meat. We had potpies tonight, once I removed the chicken and crust he ate it. He is more of a veggie eater than a meat eater.

  • I put them on their plates and they eat them. I've never had to fight to get them to eat veggies.

  • I sneak them in sauces like pasta sauce. Orange vegetables like squash, carrots, pumpkin can be slipped into pasta sauce without affecting the flavor. They will eat them in soups and stews too. My 5 year old likes to eat raw vegetables and salads. My son will eat fresh green beans and carrots. My oldest daughter is getting better. For some reason, they all cannot stand potatoes.
