  • I keep a small colony of show quality Fancy Rats :) I do NOT breed, but I do take in retired breeding stock. For a happy and healthy rat there is A LOT of care involved. They need company, so they should have a cage mate. They are active and playful, so they need a large cage. I keep mine in large ferret cages. They can breed in under a second!! Litters can be as small as one or two kits, or as large as 24!!

Domesticated fancy rats dont live as long as feeder rats or wild rats. The breeders are working on this problem :)

Rats are my passion, look at my avatar. That is My siamese marked, ruby (not RED) eyed, standard Fancy rat. His registered name is CMMR Zephyr :)

  • Right now I have guinea pigs (according to my vet they're classed as 'exotics', though they are pretty common!) Prior to the piggies, I had three african pygmy hedgehogs... very neat little critters! Their names were Hawthorne, Bramble, and Thistle.
