Is 17 weeks to early to determine the gender?

i asked because i got an ultra sound at 17 weeks and it said i was havin a girl but what if that was to early to tell

  • I'd say yes. I've never found out any earlier than 24 weeks.

    And even then, with the first I didn't find out correctly until she was born. They say it's very unlikely that they'll tell you it's a boy when it's really a girl, well that happened to me with my first lol!

    Then the 32 week sex guesstimate with my second was accurate. GL!

  • I found out at 17 weeks with both of mine and it was right! But i have heard that you should be 20 weeks before you should find out!

  • well technically yes they can tell but it's very hard to be sure until 20-24 weeks. I would ask they they gave you one so early. It's always a good idea to ask why before ANY intervention.

  • Could have been given you the ultra sound to see how far along you are, measure baby along with just making sure things are looking good. It is usually around 20 weeks to determine sex. Good luck !

  • The average is 16 weeks... You can find out as early as 14, but most doctors won't look before 16... I found out all of mine at 16 and there was never an issue
