Is there an age for tattoos?

I understand that you can't get a tattoo unless you are an adult.

  • If you're under 18, you need parental consent, I believe. But I think even with that, the rules are different per state.

  • Actually, you can, if your parent signs a consent form. I got a small, tasteful tattoo with my mom when I was 17, almost 18. If my child is an adult or is that close to being one and wants a tattoo, I'd be fine with it, as long as it wasn't something controversial, large, or something they would regret.

  • My child(ren) will wait until the are 18 and graduated from high school. But it needs to be tasteful if she is living under my roof. I have 7 tattoos and I can cover all of mine if needed, and they are all tasteful. But once my kids are on their own, its their decision...

  • You have to be 18. Some of the places here will allow a parent to sign, some won't.
