How do you cure your hiccups?

I find taking in a deep breath and then drinking a glass of water (slowly) cures mine every time. How about you? What do you do to cure the hiccups when you or your kids get them??

  • Just put a tablespoon of sugar in your mouth and don't do anything, just let it dissolve. It has always worked for us.

  • I've never been able to cure mine, but I cured my husband's one night before we were married by telling him I was pregnant. :)

  • I bite down on a pencil between my upper teeth and bottom teeth and take a drink of water. Works for me every time. I hate the hiccups!

  • Same as you - hold my breath and take small slow sips for as long as I can hold it, then a couple more!

  • You can swallow upside down. Just put something to drink in your mouth and hold your head up side down and swallow. This always works for me.

  • A bartenders favorite cure & it works everytime. A slice of lemon sprinkled with sugar, & a few drops of angostura bitters. eat the pulp of the lemon with all the goodies on it. Hiccups gone!
