Any ideas how to stop or control psoriasis

My husband's psoriasis has gotten out of control. He has a breakout all over his legs, back, stomach, and arms. He can not afford to see a Dr. or specialist at this time. Is there something natural he can do or take? He doesn't eat wheat or milk products. He does heat yougurt. Nor does he eat a lot of meats. He's retired, so its not stress... sure could use some relief for him... appreciate all advices

  • - No alcohol and No smoking
    - A very simple method is to apply petroleum jelly (vaseline or Bioline). Just apply petroleum jelly evenly after bath every day for three months and see the difference.
    - A few days or even 15-20 min a day or a few times a week in the sun will do wonders.
    - Take a yoga class. Relaxation seems to play a key role in treating your psoriasis.
    - Keep your skin moisturized with a light emollient recommended by your dermatologist, as dry skin tends to be more pruritis
    - Keep your skin cool. Sweating makes breakouts worse and so does dry winter weather
    - Apply emollients and moisturizers 2x a day especially after bathing and pat dry after bath or shower.
    - Soak in a luke-warm oatmeal bath. This relieves itching and hydrates the skin layers.
    - Avoid Scratching, rubbing and picking at the lesions.
    - Wear cotton clothing .Synthetics will irritate and heat up the skin and worsen psoriasis and are best

  • My husband doesn't smoke or drink. He does apply vaseline. Since we live in the mountains its hard to get much sun, except for 25 minutes of summer! LOL He does keep putting stuff to keep the sin moist. Appreciate the information about the cotton clothing. Didn't know the effects of Synthetics could have that much of affect on the skin.

My question is, is there nothing natural to stop it from spreading? Or at least bring it under control?

  • try different laundry soap, with no dyes and no perfume
try using no soap for his showers
try pure coconut oil massages several times a day
try natural cleaning products in the home
get a good probiotic and fish oil from a health food store
have you tried an oatmeal bath?
