Running Injury Help!

In Feb my trainer thinks i gave myself a stress fracture in my lower leg. So I took 3 months off from running. I did the eliptical, weightlifting, stairmaster etc. Then I started running again for about 6 months only for my leg to hurt again. I am told I should stop running for a LONG while to get this to heal. Now NOTHING gives me the workout like running. I gained 8 lbs even though I still worked out. Does anyone have any good workput ideas that will yeild similar results to running? I was able to run 6.2 miles in less than 50 min. I need something as intense with the same calorie burning rate.

  • how about a cycle class. they burn up to 1000 calories an hour, if you put in a decent effort, swimming also can help you tone down and get your lungs a good work out. i know how you feel. my sister used to run but would suffer from sever shin splits or torn muscles and she would get so frustrated. maybe try some pilates classes too to see if they help strengthen your legs up .
