My dog goes bat sh** crazy every time I try to play with the kids.

Barking, jumping around, acting like she doesn't have any sense, being really loud, generally being annoyed, and mouthing.

We like to dance, and the dog goes insane. Any ideas?

  • I watch The Dog Whisperer and Cesar has the most wonderful ideas. I'm sure that the excitement of the play gets your dog going, but you have to "not agree" with the behavior. The very second your dog starts the behavior, tell her no! Try to get her the second before the behavior is starting, in the earlier stages of excitement, before she escalates. She needs to be disciplined with the no before it gets that far. If you get National Geographic Channel, watch that show and you'll get so many wonderful ideas. It's really amazing!

  • Sounds like she's trying to get involved. She's most likely just getting excited that you guys are interacting and she wants to join in. One thing you can do is just stop for a minute and try to calm her down. When she barks look at her and firmly say "NO". If you need to, gently hold her mouth shut and say "No". That shows that specifically what you're refering to. It won't happen overnight, but she can be trained with patients and time. Also, if you have a cage use that as a time out. If she doesn't listen to the first one or two commands then put her in the cage with the door shut. This will show her that she's done something wrong. Then after say five minutes let her out and give her another chance.
