Should I be concerned or is this normal (potty training) adult content

We started to put my 18-month old on a potty seat around Labor Day...just to get her used to it (not to actually have her trained). We make a routine of her sitting there each night before her bath and recently started morning before getting dressed and then whenever she answers us that she has to go. She does well urinating and we were suprised last weekend (and again today) when she had a BM in the potty. We are a little concerned, though, b/c both times we noticed a little bit of blood when we wiped her and (upon that) noticed some traces of blood in the potty. Is this due to herbeing in a new position (normally she sort of stands) or something we should worry about. Daycare has not mentioned this to us (she is striclty diapers at school).

  • it could e just her pushing. If its on the outside of the bm then its ok but if there is blood on thru the bm then contact a doctor.

  • Is she experiencing any constipation or a hard BM?

  • My son sometimes had small amounts of blood when wiping and it seemed that his BM's were a little hard, causing him to push harder.

  • Is it coming from an open wound that you can see or is it coming from inside? If it's from inside I would definitely call the doctor and have them check it out.

  • No, she doesn't appear to be constipated. She doesn't seem to be upset by it, either. (She's had difficult BMs in the past which usually caused her to fuss until it was over.)

  • wouldn't hurt to have it looked at if you're worried but it could just be from having a big or hard BM

  • It sounds like maybe it's just from pushing too hard. If you see blood through the BM than maybe you should have your doc check it out if you're worried.
