  • Typically, when a dog shakes their head it is an indication of an ear infection. Have you looked in the ear? does it look red? DO you see any wax or even pus? Please take her to the vet so that they can diagnose this and give her what she needs. The only way to know for sure if a dog has ear mites is to take a swab and look at it under a microscope.

  • I think I saw ear mite medicine on the shelf at Pet Smart.

  • Please take her to the vet. It sounds like she has an ear infection. That is what my dog was doing once and she had an infection.

  • WIth mites, the inside of the ear is usually covered with black gunk. Could be an ear infection. Maybe she got water in her ears.

  • My Chi/Yorkie shakes her head sometimes- She gets groomed every 3 weeks so, her ears are pretty clean but, if she keeps doing it; i rub a little bit of Sweet Oil in her ear & she feels better-

  • Dogs usually DON'T get mites and the over the counter earmite meds wont work for what your dog has (usually yeast or bacterial). You need to take to the vet and get the right medication. I don't think it would be that expensive and usually once you get the meds you can get refills as needed.

  • It would be just like my dog to disagree with me. I think she's taking after my husband! LOL
