What is the role of the media in this election? Are they doing their job responsibily?

I found an excerpt from a book titled: "None dare call it Treason" by John A. Stormer, he goes on to say: "Free, representative government is predicated on the assumption that the people, having the facts, will make the right decisions when they go to the polls. If the press abdicates its responsibility, the system will fail. Breaking through the "paper curtain" which screens most Americans from the truth is a primary challenge." What are your thoughts?

  • The sole responsibility of the media in any situation is to report the news in a fair and unbiased manner. Unfortunately, the media is more interested in making the news than reporting it. Very rare is it that you can find a reliable source of truth in this day and age.

  • The media does in INCREDIBLE disservice to the American people! The bias is extraordinary! It's unfortunate, because even in this day and age, a good majority of people still get their news to form opinions from their local newspaper or the 6 o'clock news!!!

  • I believe that the biased liberal media is MORE than NOT doing what they are suppose to!! ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NY Times................they ALL have given Obama / Biden free passes, they REFUSE to report truths, they REFUSE to report facts, they REFUSE. And I believe that they should be held accountable and take ownership in their biased liberal agenda!!!!!!! It truly is a travesty that they REFUSE to report ALL THE FACTS!!!!!!!! And their biased personal attacks on McCain / Palin should be brought to justice and they should be sued!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The media's job is to report facts - not opinons. They do NOT do their job very well, no matter what the topic or story. Every store is stuffed full of "well, I think" and "couldn't it be argued" comments. The words choice is the stories says a lot too.

  • If you all think it is bad NOW, wait to see what happens if Obama is elected...
He and other Dems in Congress are in favor of the Fairness Doctrine... They can actually govern what news stations you listen to....

  • It's funny how the McCain supporters think the media is biased against his campaign..yet the Obama supporters swear there are news agencies that refuse to say anything negative about McCain.
Why can't both sides admit there are media sources that are biased on BOTH SIDES?

  • The media has a responsiblity to be fair and unbiased. It's obvious they have rewritten the rules for themselves. Disgusting. You will never be able to trust the media again.
