what does it mean to be Equally yolked?

I've seen this in a few questions and I don't have a clue what they mean.

  • The literal term refers to oxen or other beasts of burden. The yolk is part of the harness that keeps the two animals close together to pull the plow. The setup works best if the two animals are around the same height and size so they share the load evenly.

    You can take this figuratively to mean similar in beliefs.

  • It means that typically you and your husband believe right along the same lines, and not just for religios things. Also how to raise your kids, money, things like that.
